August 30, is recognized as National Grief Awareness Day. It is also known as National Bereavement Day and has been recognized as a way to raise awareness of the various ways that grief can manifest in our lives. Inspire Behavioral Health wishes to offer you our condolences if you have endured the loss of someone you love and remind you that our therapists are here to help. We know how grief impacts us personally and professionally.

Grief isn’t limited to bereavement, but can stem from any significant loss or change in our lives. Grief is a complex process that doesn’t follow a linear path. It often comes in waves, affecting us unexpectedly and at different times. It’s important to remember that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to grieving, and each person’s experience is unique. While the grieving process can vary greatly from person to person, talking to a trained professional can be helpful.

Many of us begin cope with grief, mourning and loss at an early age but will surely face this painful process at some point in life. We understand that loss is loss, and so the death of a partner or spouse, family member, friend, pet, the loss of a job or income, retiring, the ending of a relationship, betrayal, separation and divorce, moving, and so many other changes in life cause the appropriate response of grief. Also, a diagnosis of a chronic or life-limiting illness will often be a source of anticipatory grief as one wonders what losses will I or my loved one endure before actual death. There is help. Some of our licensed psychotherapists are also certified in thanatology, the field of mourning, dying and death, and are here to help you through your bereavement journey.
