
Board-Certified Psychiatrist
Dr. B. A. Bahroo, MD is a diplomate of the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry. He board-certified in adult, addictions, and forensic psychiatry upon completion of Psychiatry residency at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School, fellowship in Forensic psychiatry at SUNY-Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, New York, and fellowship in Addiction psychiatry at University of Maryland in Baltimore. He has worked as an inpatient staff psychiatrist at St. Elizabeths Hospital and later joined Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, D.C., folowed by Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, Maryland. As a staff psychiatrist at Walter Reed for 15 years, he introduced weekly music therapy, movie groups, and yoga programs for the patients enrolled in the day treatment program. He held journal club meetings for the psychiatry residents at WRNMMC. He is an assistant professor in psychiatry at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and precepts medical students. He is certified in transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and auricular acupuncture. He worked as a staff psychiatrist and a Director of Interventional Medicine for TMS and Spravato (Esketamine) at Columbia Associates in Psychiatry in Arlington, Virginia for 4 years. He is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Addictive Diseases. Dr. Bahroo is the recipient of the LTG Claire L. Chennault 2020 Award for Outstanding Psychiatry Faculty. He has presented at several annual meetings of the American Psychiatric Association. His interests are in exploring Nutrition and its effects on the Brain and Mind. He speaks fluent English, Hindi and Sindhi, and has a working knowledge of Urdu, Marathi and Gujarati. He has medical licenses to provide services in DC, MD and VA.
